Geotechnical reconnaissance campaign

Geotechnical survey campaign for seven stations - Transversale Rive Gauche RER Line C

Geotechnical reconnaissance campaign

Geotechnical surveys in complex railway and underground contexts

ABO-ERG Géotechnique carried out a series of geotechnical investigations as part of the project to replace the new rolling stock on the RER C line on the TRG (Transversale rive gauche, a branch of the RER C line in central Paris).
The reconnaissance campaign focuses in particular on the stations between Austerlitz station and Javel station. The aim of the investigation campaign is to gain a more in-depth understanding of the subsoil and structural elements (raft foundations, foundations) that make up the railway platforms at the seven stations concerned.
These structures, located in the heart of Paris beneath a major traffic artery and along the banks of the Seine, are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Their location poses numerous challenges for the construction work: setting up the site, accessing the site (supplying materials and removing rubble), working underground and interrupting service on the RER C line.
Numerous core and destructive surveys were carried out, recording drilling parameters and pressuremeter tests at the platform during weekday nights and weekends.
