{"id":6735,"date":"2026-06-16T15:51:02","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T15:51:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abo-group-france.fr\/?p=6735"},"modified":"2026-07-09T16:01:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T16:01:12","slug":"geodays-sustainable-infrastructure-and-geotechnics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.abo-group-france.fr\/en\/geodays-infrastructures-durables-et-geotechnique\/","title":{"rendered":"Geodays: sustainable infrastructure and geotechnical engineering"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sustainable infrastructure: when geotechnical engineering becomes strategic<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was the key question raised during a panel discussion at GEODAYS 2026 on Tuesday 16 June 2026, attended by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abo-group-france.fr\/en\/geotechnical-engineering-office\/\">several representatives from ABO ERG G\u00e9otechnique<\/a> and ABO GROUP France, alongside the\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/union-syndicale-geotechnique.com\/\">Geotechnical Trade Union<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the benefits of incorporating geotechnical engineering at the earliest stages of a project?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimising risks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing risks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optimising the design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing the carbon footprint<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extending the structure\u2019s service life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <strong>Balancing sustainability, performance, safety and overall cost<\/strong> is <strong>THE key to all infrastructure projects<\/strong>, whether we are talking about roads, railways, dykes, quarries, engineering structures, or even energy or transport networks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is <strong>all the more so at a time of major events<\/strong>\u00a0:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Energy transition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new focus on critical materials and minerals,\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Land pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adaptation to climate change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abo-group-france.fr\/en\/geotechnical-engineering-office\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.abo-group-france.fr\/bureau-etudes-geotechnique\/\">soil management<\/a><\/strong>, it also involves managing risks such as their instability, the shrinkage and swelling of clays, groundwater\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Risks that are becoming more acute as a result of climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A talk to remind us that<strong> Although its works are invisible, geotechnical engineering IS crucial to ensuring the long-term durability of infrastructure<\/strong>, and, more broadly, any planning, construction or regeneration project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Infrastructures durables : quand la g\u00e9otechnique devient strat\u00e9gique C&rsquo;est la question centrale pos\u00e9e lors d&rsquo;une table ronde des GEODAYS 2026, mardi 16 juin 2026, \u00e0 laquelle ont particip\u00e9 plusieurs repr\u00e9sentants d&rsquo;ABO ERG G\u00e9otechnique et d&rsquo;ABO GROUP France, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de l&rsquo;Union Syndicale G\u00e9otechnique.
